There’s a HUGE problem among business owners…
They all think they need to post content EVERYWHERE.
• YouTube
• TikTok
• Tinder…
EVERYWHERE.
And it’s ridiculous!
Because what they don’t know is that, there’s a strategy for everything.
There’s a reason we (marketers) say you SHOULDN’T be on every platform. Here are just a few of those reasons…
1. You won’t grow quickly
Let me explain this one first…
By posting everywhere, you’re diluting your attention. Your spreading your energy across many different platforms. Even if it doesn’t seem like that’s the case… it is.
You mind will feel it eventually, and so will your body. It’s tiring. All the context switching and trying to keep up!
Trust me… I’ve been there too! I mean, why do you think I’m saying all of this? It doesn’t work.
Here’s a first-person example:
Back in 2022, I started my 5th social media account. (I’ve been doing this stuff for a decade.)
I wanted to test something… would being everywhere be a better strategy?
I’d seen all these gooroos online, such as: Alex Hormozi, Mrbeast, and Ali Abdaal, posting on ALL of the different platforms, so I thought it’d be a good idea to try out.
Wanna guess what happened?
Do ya?
Well, I’ll tell ya.
I tested it for 6 months, and the results across all platforms were…
• 200 followers total
• 200K impressions
• Decent engagement but not great
• Zero new clients
Then, I tested just focusing on ONE platform for the next 6 months. (Twitter)
Here were the results…
• 600K impressions in 3 months
• Daily engagement on all my posts
• 3 high-ticket clients
Now, sure…
You could argue that Twitter was going through a growth phase around 2023-2024, and sure that MAY be true. But, it also goes to show how much MORE time and ENERGY you can put into something when you’re solely focused on the ONE thing!
Which brings me to…
2. Many platforms will be a waste of time and energy
You know how people say “the AlgOriThM is why I can’t grow!”? Well…
They aren’t entirely wrong.
Another bad thing about posting everywhere is that you’ll waste TONS of time and energy trying to figure out how each algorithm works on the 19 platforms that you’re posting to.
For instance…
• Linkedin – post often, but not too often
• Twitter – post extremely often, and post certain types of content (I only tell my clients what that certain type of content is… if you wanna enquire: https://hayesadvertisingco.com/work-with-me/)
• Post less often than both of those platforms
• Facebook – can post slightly more
And on and on…
On each platform, the algorithm has its own way of punishing vs. promoting your content. And by posting to EVERY platform, you’ll have to individually figure out why your content is thriving on one platform and dying on another.
It’s just not worth the hassle.
3. Your audience is only on 1 or 2 of those platforms
My final reason why I DESPISE this, frankly, dumb strategy is this:
Your Audience (CUSTOMERS) probably aren’t on HALF of those other platforms!
The reason I gripe about this, and I tell all my clients about this, is because… WHAT IS THE POINT IF YOU AREN’T GETTING SALES!
We’re all business owners, right?
We want moola. Cashola. Money in the bank.
It keeps us alive, thriving, and allows us to do what we love every day.
So, WHY in the world are you sacrificing that, just because some rando on the internet told you “it works” (source: trust me bro)
You’re basically lighting money on fire.
Seriously. Say goodbye to your money.
Bye! 💸 🔥
Now…
If you’ve gone through this entire article, and this has truly made a difference, and helped you realize the errors of your ways?
Good, come over to the light side, book your call with me, and let’s see if I can help grow your business!
But if it hasn’t, and you’re still siding with the gooroos (the dark side), then I’m at least glad you read this article. Now you know, and you can say you read it, but didn’t believe it.
(Also, you can’t be my client… sorry! I don’t take people who believe they need to post on every single platform to be known online.)
I hope you learned something today.
Just sit down, grab a cup of joe, and think about it for a little bit.
Talk later,
Nick Hayes
P.S.
Don’t believe that I can get results for your business?
Here are just a couple results I got recently for a Pediatrician’s office…
