In 2024, I watched every small business owner I knew burning out. Posting three to five times a day across every platform. Getting nothing back. Organic reach had collapsed. AI slop was flooding feeds. And the "gurus" kept saying the same thing:
I grew up obsessed with marketing. When I was 12, I started my first YouTube channel and uploaded every day for 12 months — gaining 1,000 subscribers. When I was 20, I started a fitness channel, uploaded once a month for 3 months, and gained 20,000 subscribers.
The lesson was obvious: it wasn't volume. It was relevance.
For the past 10 years, I studied what actually moves people. What makes someone stop scrolling, act, and buy. What makes someone refer a business to their friends. And what I found: the businesses that won weren't the ones posting the most. They were the ones saying things most relevant to their audience — and owning that audience through email.
I started Hayes Advertising to do the opposite of what everyone else was doing. Fewer posts, more thought. Story-first email instead of rented social reach. Real revenue instead of vanity metrics. I'm not here to be the biggest agency. I'm here to be the one small business owners actually trust.
